About the Webinar:
As practitioners in the ombuds and conflict resolution fields, we may come across issues arising out of unfair practices and unequal treatments. This session is designed to share how ombuds and conflict resolution practitioners may contribute to improving an organization's culture by being more inclusive!. As folks on the frontline, we will hear issues regarding race, discrimination, inequities- the not so fun issues. And we can help in more ways than we know. Concepts that will be highlighted in this session include transculturalism, linguistic diversity, conflict management, and communication.


Objectives:

  • Understand how practitioners can identify inequities in their organization with trends and patterns
  • Understand how to recognize the presence of transgenerational trauma in the workplace as it relates to systemic issues and inclusion
  • Learn how to apply the tools and techniques of linguistics diversity and communication as it relates to building and sustaining inclusion in your organization


Presenter:

Bina Patel Bina Patel

Bina Patel is an experienced ombuds, dispute resolution practitioner, and professor - trainer in international business, diverse cultures and multiculturalism. Bina works with the federal government, public, academic, and private sectors. She is the founder of Transformational Paradigms, providing ombuds/conflict resolution services and trainings for the private sector.  She enjoys researching and publishing on topics related to ombuds, conflict management, and suicide terorrism. She earned her doctorate in Conflict Resolution & Peacekeeping Analysis and Master's in international business from Nova Southeastern University, and BA from the University of Florida. Bina volunteers for the IOA Conference Committee and Coalition of the Federal Ombudsman and other global non-profits.
