Human Resources and Ombuds

22 June 2017 | 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM (Pacific)

About the Webinar:

The differences and similarities of ombuds and human resources responsibilities within an organization are often not well understood. Although the roles may seem similar or even duplicative to some, the two functions are distinctively unique. It is incumbent upon ombuds to educate our constituents, particularly our human resources colleagues, and optimize our connections to accomplish common organizational goals.

This webinar will share a presentation the Baker Hughes Ombuds Program uses to promote understanding and partnership with human resources with the purpose of discussing how to address situations likely to be challenging to the IOA Standards of Practice. Participants are encouraged to share their challenges and successes in strengthening collaboration with the HR community in a pre-webinar survey.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Share tools and strategies used by Baker Hughes Ombuds Program to strengthen the relationship with HR
  2. Clarify the distinctions of the ombuds and HR roles
  3. Consider risks and benefits of situations likely to challenge the IOA Standards of Practice
